Horse riding, mountain biking, paragliding, trekking and hot-air ballooning are all available in the nearby Mount Sibillini National Park. In winter Mount Sibillini is transformed into an easily accessible ski field. for more information: Paradise Possible website and Ski school website.

Another attraction of the Sibillini National park is Lake Fiastra located one hour from Casa Principessa. Lake Fiastra (640m above sea level) is an artificial lake formed by a dam across the River Fiastrone. This delightful location, between woods and mountains, is a centre for water-skiing and fishing. At the water’s edge there is also a little beach.

Amandola is a medieval town with a daily bus service to Rome from the main square (3 hr trip) and is known for its antique tradtion of ebony furniture and marquetry artistry.

Ascoli Piceno an ancient cathedral city with a beautiful marble piazza.  Famous for the pageantry of Quintana, a medieval jousting competition, in August and for the tasty antipasto dish 'olive ascolone'.

The Piano Grande is a magnificent green flat plateau at the southern end of the Sibillini Mountains - some 6.5km long and 3km wide, surrounded by mountains and with a spectacular wildflower display in Spring. An easy return day-trip from Casa Principessa - visiting the beautiful town of Visso, famous for its cured meats and wild fennel (see Davenport article) and the historic Santuario di Macereto en route.

Loreto boasts a 15th century church which houses Our Lady's Home of Nazareth.  Tradtion tell us that this home was transported from Nazareth to Loreto by angels, however research reveals the nobel family Angeli responsible for the relocation.

Urbino was the ancient capital of the region.  The Renaissance town is the birth place of Raphael and home to the magnificent Ducal Palace.

Urbs SalviaSferisterio The Roman ruins (pictured left) of the antique town of Urbisaglia are found along the road to Macerata. They include a magnificent amphitheatre which, during the summer months, stages a Greco-Roman theatre festival. Macerata is home to The Sferisterio (right) – one of the best open-air arenas in Italy known internationally for its annual staging of Stagione Lirica (Opera Season).

Conero Peninsula
The beautiful Conero Peninsula stretches along the coast of Le Marche. Known for its scenery, coves, beaches & resorts the Conero is home to the picturesque tiny towns of Portonovo, Sirolo & Numana.
